“Back to school. Back to school.” I am hearing Adam Sandler’s voice singing that! The new school year is fast approaching. A lot of schools here in Texas are starting to send out their options for the new school year and some are releasing what in person school will look like. Parents and schools have a lot of big decisions to make. In the end, you have to choose what option is right for you and your family. No matter what option you choose, I’m sure you will need some supplies for your kiddos!
As the year fast approaches I am still pondering what I will do. Our school is offering the option for in person classes or online. If I do online, I will need supplies here at the house to help facilitate learning. If my 2 bigs go to school in person, they will need supplies. I figured I might as well start looking at supplies that I know we could use either way. I will also need supplies to teach my Little Red. He will be home with me and still learning.
Prior to knowing what our district’s plans would be, I ordered my big boy a new backpack and lunchbox. Still planning on returning to work I also ordered a backpack and lunchbox for my little bambino that will be coming. As always, I went to Amazon for backpacks, lunchboxes, and school supplies.
I am linking some of my finds. This will be more than 1 post so stay tuned for additional school supply posts!
***As a disclaimer, please note that if you click on the links and make a purchase, I may receive a commission at no additional charge to you. I try to test all products prior to recommending them. I usually don’t recommend products I don’t love or products from a company I haven’t tried before. For this post I did defer to teacher friends on some products as they are the experts in this area!***
This little pack looks pretty good especially if you will be trying to add or start a supply for home learning. I know our school required more glue sticks and certain color folders last year so the folders and only 2 glue sticks may not work for you if you know/think your school will require a certain number/color of folders/glue sticks. If you think you will need more glue sticks for home or for school, the large pack of WASHABLE glue sticks might work better for you! I purchased these for home as we go through glue sticks like crazy with our crafting projects! A teacher friend said she prefers Elmer’s X-Treme School Glue Stick.
Some schools request dry erase markers as part of the school supply list. Pencils are, of course, typically on the list. Teachers definitely have a preference and from my experience in the school system I am linking those favorites. These are my favorite dry erase markers! A teacher friend mentioned maybe getting low odor dry erase markers. She recommended the Expo low odor dry erase markers. I hadn’t even considered the low odor ones!
Last year my daughter had hand sanitizer on her school supply list. I don’t think this year will be any different given the current situation we are in. As a side note, according to some of my teacher friends, hand sanitizer is a GREAT Christmas gift or just because gift! It may be difficult to find hand sanitizer in some areas. At the time of this post, the below link was in stock and was a reasonable price. I found plenty that were RIDICULOUS. I prefer to shop online and a lot of the stores here do not allow pick up or delivery of hand sanitizer, but as mentioned, the link below to Germ-X on Amazon is reasonably priced and you can get it without having to leave your home!
Next on the list is usually at least 1 spiral notebook. Be sure to check to see if your list requires wide rule or college rule. There is a difference! If you don’t want to leave your home, Amazon has the Mead Spiral Notebooks, 6 Pack fairly cheap. However, I know the Target ad for this week (today is July 6, 2020) some 1 subject spiral notebooks for $0.25! They also had some composition notebooks for $0.50 so that would be a cheaper option if you are budgeting! I feel like most notebooks and composition notebooks are about the same quality!
Tissues were also on my daughter’s list last year. As your kiddos get older, they may not have this on their list. Again, from a teacher friend, these would make a good gift though! My daughter’s school required 3 boxes last year. This Kleenex Ultra Soft Facial Tissues 8 pack would be a great way to save some for later in the year to gift to teachers or to keep for yourself if you like tissues at home!
These will get you started on your school supplies for the year! I will post additional school supply posts hopefully throughout this week! It’s a great time to start thinking about it and find some great deals that are budget friendly!
