New Year, New Adventures, New Me!

We have started 2021! I hope it holds great things. As we start 2021, I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and share my new adventure in sculpting a new me body! Health has always been something I am passionate about. As a nurse I know the importance health plays in quality of life. I know that it is important to eat healthy foods, get enough sleep (maybe in a few years that will happen), and I know the importance of maintaining a healthy weight. I know how important water consumption is. I know that making healthy choices is imperative to avoiding things like Type II Diabetes (of which I am at greater risk for because I have had gestational diabetes). Healthier choices keeps my migraines in check, my body happy, and ME happy. So, as we start 2021 I am continuing on my health journey. I am stepping out and starting a YouTube channel that will show my progress. I will post videos of me working out and other fun things!

This is one of my videos!

Remember that you should seek the advice and release of your physician before starting any health or fitness program. I have visited with my physicians and have been given the go ahead to make the changes and start my workout programs. I choose to use BeachBody On Demand, but you don’t have to. I have been working on the current program I am using since I got released post baby #4. I started on the Phase 2 portion and am now documenting my progress with that. I am not perfect. I am old, I am tired, I have extra fluff, and over the years and added fluff I have forgotten how to love myself and be happy in who I am. I know I am not alone, so I decided sharing my journey with others was what I wanted to do. I hope to inspire and encourage some of you along the way.

It is difficult to make changes in eating, in cleansing, and in working out. Change is HARD! Know that you are not alone and I will be encouraging you every step of the way. As you start on your journey remember there will be days you want to give up. There will be days you don’t do that workout. There will be days you eat junk. It will happen. Give yourself GRACE! Remember that when you are doing laundry, you are still putting in work. When you are cooking dinner, you are putting in work. When you clean house, guess what? YOU. ARE. PUTTING. IN. WORK! When you are Momming, you are DEFINITELY putting in work! Be kind to yourself. Being a parent is hard and adding in ANYTHING to that is even harder. You’ve got this! We’ve got this! Once you have been released by your health care provider, join me on this journey!

Remember self care is important on your journey as well. That may be sitting down to journal, read a book, drink hot chocolate, take a bath…As parents we don’t always have the luxury of an hour to spend on ourselves, but find 5 minutes to just do you. If you can find the time, run a relaxing bath and put on that beauty mask, light a candle, and burn that candle you love the most! I do this with my daughter when she is having a rough time. I’ve even done it with my oldest son! Okay, we skipped the beauty mask and the candle (I would like for my house NOT to catch on fire), but I ran a bath and made him some hot chocolate and let him just soak in the tub while sipping his beverage of choice! It’s amazing how great it works!

Find a way to find some emotional peace as well. My emotional tank is filled when I go for a long run. It allows me to think through things and leave them on the pavement. Mental health is important too. Find a friend you can connect with, whether on a video conference call or in person, and enjoy a talk with them. Maybe you need to invest in you and see a counselor. This whole pandemic thing has been tough on most of us. Reach out for help. Even before the pandemic we often neglected the emotional and mental health that wee desperately need to be paying attention to. Find ways to stay emotionally and mentally healthy. A walk in the park, feed the ducks, visit a botanical garden…find what you need.

Take charge of your health and do it NOW! After you have visited with your healthcare provider, of course. Don’t put off your health! Join me for encouragement of for a laugh on my YouTube channel. If you are thinking, “But I don’t have the money for a workout program. I don’t have the money for a gym membership.” My first question is, Have you checked to see if your employer offers a discount for a gym membership? Do they offer incentives if you have a blood pressure, weight, etc. within normal limits? Does your employer offer a workout and healthy eating plan? Can you really afford to put off your health? Poor health can lead to so many other diseases: high blood pressure, diabetes, heart failure, blockages, strokes, the list goes on. Those amount to higher health costs and possibly more money spent on medications. Give it a try once released by your provider. Get IT DONE! Transform yourself mind and body!
