It’s been 2 weeks since I wrote about my plans for workout programs. I would love to say that everything has been going amazingly and there haven’t been any bumps along the way. I’d love to show you my already sculpted body and the inches lost. Remember, you can’t focus on the scale because as you gain muscle mass you won’t see a huge difference on the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat. It’s so important to look at inches lost instead of weight on the scale.
Unfortunately things have not gone that great for me. I had and am still having a bit of a health setback, but I’m not letting it keep me down. I’m not going to expand on my health setback since I don’t have much in the way of answers as of yet. Due to the setbacks I wasn’t able to complete a full week of workouts until this past week. I finally got in all 6 days of my Morning Meltdown prep workouts and I did 2 days of running. Ultimately my goal is to do all 6 days of workouts and 3 days of running. You can do the math. That means some days I will be doing a Morning Meltdown workout and running. That takes time and planning. With the kids at home and not all being fast enough to keep up with a running Mama, I have to time my running around my husband’s schedule. With the time change that means I have to get up earlier. Have I mentioned I’m not a morning person?!!? In order to get that 3rd run in, I’m going to have to get myself happy with the idea of getting up early!
You may be asking, “Why would you want to even think about working out if you’re having health issues?” There isn’t any contraindication for me working out. Working out is actually good for my health. It makes me happy. When I workout, my kids see healthy behaviors. More is caught than taught. That means just talking about working out doesn’t mean as much as me modeling healthy habits like working out. I have also tried to make sure I am not just modeling it, but also getting them involved in healthy habits. Some days our healthy habits are eating better foods (more fruits and vegetables), going for bike rides, going for walks, or sometimes we do a family workout on Beachbody on Demand. If you follow me on IG, you have seen a video or 2 of my kids doing a family friendly workout on Beachbody!
As I mentioned, last week was the first week I was able to complete a full week of my Beachbody, Morning Meltdown prep workouts. It felt so good to get the full week in and I was so excited. They may be prep workouts, but they are still darn good workouts! They got my butt burnin’! My legs were pretty sore as well. Add in 2 running workouts! FEEL THE BURN! My goal is to run 3-6 miles during my running workouts. I would love to do more, but I need to remember to start slow. I will also have to add in some speed workouts. My speed workouts won’t be long distance. I am terrible at speed workouts. I’m not built for short distances that require bursts of speed. In fact, they usually make me vomit. Fun times (not really)!
For my longer runs, I like to have something that holds my phone so I don’t have to have my hand wrapped around it. I prefer to have my hands free. If I’m having to hold on to something I can’t focus as much on my form. It also tires me out more. It’s probably all just mental, but whatever gets me through my workout! I really like the water/phone combo belt I got for the 15 k I completed last year. You can probably guess where I got the belt from…Amazon of course! I’m all about not having to leave my house to go get something. This is especially true with 4 kids. Sometimes they can get along and behave, but it’s those times that they don’t that make the home deliveries so worth it. It is so embarrassing to have kid (or more) having a meltdown or arguing in the middle of the store. You still have to make it out to the car with the fit throwing or arguing going on. Of course everyone has to turn and look at the kids and then at you and then be judgmental. Everyone may not be judgmental. Occasionally there is the Mama who feels your pain, but there are so many people that choose to judge rather than to see the struggling Mama. Be kind friends, be kind. I will get off my soap box now…though I could say plenty more! Below is the running belt I have and love. Mine is in pink though! I love pink! As a disclaimer, if you click on the link and purchase the belt, I may make a commission at no additional cost to you! Also below are my favorite brand of shoes! I keep getting the same pair every time it is time for new running shoes! I never thought I would be a Brooks type of girl, but I don’t think I’ll be going back!
