If you have been following me for a while, you know one of the things that is important to me is my health and staying fit and active. Throughout my pregnancy I kept up my workouts and had to make changes to eating because of gestational diabetes. It wasn’t all that bad to change my eating habits! I needed to get back on track!
After I had baby, I had to rest and let my body heal. I still was able to get out and walk (and with 4 kids, I didn’t really have a choice unless we all wanted to go insane)! My doctor had told me to ease back into it so that’s what I did. When I went for my 6 week follow up, I was given the all clear to pick back up with my workouts as I felt able! Of course I had to get back in with a run! It felt A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I love running. It just makes me feel so much better and clears my mind. Sometimes running looks different now. It may mean that sometimes Dad has to hook up the bike trailer and the bigs ride their bikes while I run. There are WAY more stops along the way when the kids go with me, but it is still so worth it.
One of my goals is to run a 15k in March and for it to be at a faster pace than it was 2 years ago. I say 2 years ago because last year I ran it while pregnant and, while my pace wasn’t too much slower, it was slower than 2 years ago. So I have my goal in mind and I’m ready to get going. One of the things I plan to do to meet my goals is to run some 5ks and 10ks between now and then. They will be virtual runs but I will still be getting runs in that will push me in time trials.
I have realized over the years that I am terrible at strength training. I don’t know what to do or how to do it. I have found a program I have been using for several years off and on that really helps me when I follow through on the plans. Those programs are all through Beachbody. I love using Beachbody on Demand. Some of my favorite workouts are by Shaun T! His workouts push me and stretch me in ways I never knew possible. His workouts are a CHALLENGE! I am loving his T20 workouts. I did those before I found out I was pregnant. Now after having baby, I can do them, but I am trying to ease back in so I have started the Morning Meltdown. It is a commitment to 100 days of workouts!
Today started the official day #1 of prep workouts! I have started this challenge with a friend and we are holding each other accountable! I am also working on ensuring my meals (and my family’s meals) are healthier. I got off track with my once a month cooking because I have been trying to use up what we have left in our freezer and cabinets before buying anything else. My deep freeze was FULL. There was no room for ANYTHING. So today I start a new workout plan, add in a run when I can (hopefully at least 3 times a week), and start eating right! All just in time for those amazing holiday meals…Hmmm maybe I didn’t think this through!
As a side note, I am not making any money from talking about Beachbody. Beachbody just happens to be a group of programs and nutrition plans that I have had success with and love. I am also not a doctor or dietician. I am not recommending you jump right into working out without the release of your physician. To be safe, you should ALWAYS talk with your physician to ensure he/she believes it is safe for you to start a workout program and/or nutrition program of any kind. He/she can also give you guidelines you need to follow to stay safe. I am strictly sharing my fitness journey and what I love! I also love getting my family involved so we can spend time together while staying active and healthy! It’s not perfect, but it is our active time!
My littlest running buddy! I think he likes it!

I have to say that Brooks running shoes are by far my favorite running shoe I have tried over the years (and I’ve been running since I was 11 years old)!
