Halloween Fun

Since it is not recommended to do Trick-Or-Treating this year, I have been trying to figure out some fun things to do for our kids as well as neighbor kiddos. Our kiddos love dressing up for Halloween and getting candy. Let’s be honest, they are in it for the candy and so are Mama and Dad! Who doesn’t love a little sweet treat!

I am not the best at coming up with cute, creative, fun ideas for any time of the year. So, I took to Pinterest. I found some super fun ideas! Some can be done very easily, some take a little more work. Some will be fun for my kiddos and some will teach them to be a blessing to others. I am working very hard to teach my children it is more fun to give and bless others than to receive. We are also working on learning to be thankful for what we have instead of complaining about what we don’t have.

I found some Fall and Halloween scavenger hunt ideas. You create a list of things you might find out during Fall and/or Halloween and take a walk (or maybe a drive) and see if you can find those items! I would LOVE to do this in our neighborhood! It also reminds me that I need to get my Fall decorations out. We got pumpkins, but I haven’t put anything else out.

Speaking of pumpkins, we did an activity recently to support what my oldest son has been learning in pre-school. I bought pumpkin that we could cut apart and review the parts in English and in Spanish since he is learning both languages. It was fun to do it hands on! We didn’t let that pumpkin go to waste either! I roasted up the pumpkin and let them try the pumpkin flesh in a savory dish instead of a sweet pie. They weren’t fans, but I loved it! It also made me realize just how easy it would be to make my own pumpkin puree! I’m thinking homemade pumpkin pie ALL the way this year!

My favorite idea came from Pinterest though, and it is one we will be doing today! That idea is called “Boo your neighbor!” Some of you may have already heard of and maybe even participated in this, but this was my first time to see it! It will be so much fun! You get together some goodies you think your neighbor(s) will like and put it together in a basket or bucket, make a little card with instructions for your neighbor, and a card that is put in the window so everyone knows they have already received a goodie basket, and secretly deliver said basket of goodies to your neighbor(s)! I am so excited to deliver our buckets, but most importantly, the kids are excited to deliver them! We bought our items a few days ago and put the buckets together but were delayed in printing off our paper instructions/sign. But now it is printed and we will deliver buckets today! I hope our neighbors love it! I LOVE gifting things to people! I’m including a link to the Pinterest post I found because she offers her instructions/sign as a free downloadable and it is so simple to download! It’s super cute and simple too! And while you’re on Pinterest, check out my boards too! https://www.pinterest.com/emmessymamalife

Below are some finds on Amazon to make putting your bucket together easily! If you make a purchase from the link, it would be appreciated and I might make a commission from the purchase at no additional cost to you!

You could change the items in the basket up if you or your neighbors don’t celebrate Halloween. Maybe a Blessing Basket instead and the sign could say something along the lines of “Hello Pumpkin, You’ve been blessed!” I never claimed to be creative, y’all! This is why I go to Pinterest! While this is a Halloween theme, it could be carried out or changed to match the season! Last year someone blessed us by giving us more Christmas decorations in our yard! It was so sweet and I LOVED it! Get out and get to blessing your neighbors!
