Patriotic Recipe Ideas

Good morning! I got up WAY too early this morning. I will need ALL the coffee today. Oh wait, I’m pregnant so I can only have 2 cups…I may not make it through the day.

Last night my daughter and I stayed up and watched our local fireworks show…from the comfort of our bed! Our local police department took to Facebook Live to share the show! I think this was my favorite way to watch the fireworks! I didn’t have to worry about mosquitoes. I didn’t get sweaty and it wasn’t loud! Oh and I got to relax under the covers snuggled with my little princess!

Today is the 4th of July. As I mentioned, I woke up WAY too early and wasn’t sure what to do with my time. I wish I could be sleeping, but that was a no go. I’m sure I’ll be exhausted and ready to sleep as soon as the kids wake up. When I got up I decided to browse Pinteret for some cute patriotic recipes. Normally I would have already done this in preparation for attending a 4th of July celebration, but this year we will stay home to protect our family and others. So I will just dream about all the recipes I could make. I’m going to share my favorite finds with you today so you can dream (or make them) too!

Without further ado, here are my favorite Pinterest finds today!

I LOVE muddy buddies! Who doesn’t? They are cheap and easy to make. I was so excited to find this patriotic version of muddy buddies!

Then I found this super cute cookie cake! It isn’t gluten free but if I spent a little time I could figure out how to make it gluten free. My husband’s favorite cake is a cookie cake so this would be a HUGE hit with him! Add in all the frosting and my kids are totally in on this dessert!

A quick and super easy semi-homemade recipe is to use candy coating on Oreo cookies to make them patriotic (or any color for any holiday)! I found these during my search!

I know I’m probably the only one that gets stressed out when I’m around a lot of people. You know, like you might find at a party! I’m a big time introvert so parties, get togethers, etc. are very stressful and exhausting to me. Every now and then I do like to enjoy beverages, drinks, or desserts that aren’t coffee related. I found these cute little Jello shots! Just make sure to keep them far from little hands.

I found a couple of super cute patriotic fruit boards! This would be a great way to bring something a little healthier to the party and if your kids are like mine, they love fruit so it is also kid friendly!

That charcuterie board! Oh my goodness!!!

I love simple and cute. I also love strawberries! What is better than chocolate covered strawberries? This little gem is a cute way to have patriotic chocolate covered strawberries!

A few years ago I was looking for a way to use my mint. I grow mint EVERY year. I love my mint plants, but I never really use them. I found this cute, yummy patriotic fruit salad and I can even use my fresh mint for the recipe! I leave out the raspberries as I am not a fan (it’s a texture thing), but if you like raspberries, I bet it would be a great addition!

Last but not least, a little fun drink for the kids! I think you could probably even let the kiddos help you make this drink and you could discuss how and why it works! Add in a little science and learning while making something yummy!

There you have my favorite finds this morning when I couldn’t sleep! There are so many ideas out there! And now I’m starving and wishing for a cool drink in my hand! Not to fear! I have my favorite coffee protein shake in hand!

Yum!
